Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Foundations Course

This is the first module of the NGSS Foundations Course. The goal is to understand how NGSS differs from other science standards, and learn about the teaching and learning shifts needed to make NGSS happen. This module is part of a larger and longer course all about the foundations of NGSS. The goal of this course is to provide teachers and administrators with the foundations needed to implement and build rich, authentic, student-driven science experiences that are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the pedagogical shifts contained in the K-12 Framework for Science Education. In this course, competency is built in understanding the framework of NGSS, the teaching and learning shifts, and how to evaluate lessons and resources for alignment. The real power of this course is in the community, as it will bring together educators across the world. The course promotes the sharing of ideas, examples, questions, responses, and needs in both divisional and job-alike spaces.
