Third Culture Kids (TCKs) are often misunderstood to be just "kids who grow up abroad" with privilege and have lived an amazing life of growing up in different cultures. While I don't deny that there are advantages to the TCK lifestyle, there are challenges that are often overlooked. 

Transitions. Having to learn new languages. Leaving friends. Making new friends. New curriculum at school. 

We're not just a monolith of "privileged kids growing up abroad" - we all have our unique TCK stories. And without understanding that, schools and teachers are unable to provide academic and social support for TCKs in ways we need them the most. 

This course will address common biases people have about TCKs, common experiences and traits of the TCK lifestyle, and the importance of international schools as a "home away from home" for TCKs.
