In this new, self-paced Eduspark course entitled Intro to Allyship, you’ll get a gentle introduction to the topics of anti-discrimination and allyship. You will have a chance to examine your own intersectional identities and how they shape how you see the world and how the world sees you. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your own levels of discomfort with discussions around equity and inclusion. You’ll learn how language can help or harm, and get some tips to use more inclusive language. You’ll also learn about privilege and power, and how you can leverage your own to support others through courageous conversations. You’ll be given some resources that you can use right away with your students or colleagues to support culturally and linguistically responsive practices in the classroom. There are six chapters in this course, with videos, slides, documents, and other resources to support your teaching and learning, and the opportunity to share your ongoing reflections with classmates along the way in our community discussion forum.
